While pregnant with my 4 kiddos, I would drink a body armor daily to stay hydrated. Then, after I had them, I would keep drinking them to help support my milk supply.
I did more research into what was in body armor. I was shocked to see something called dipotassium phosphate. According to Yuka (health food scanner), this stabilizer can harm the kidneys if used in excess. Our youngest only has one kidney. We aim to set our family up for healthy living. We decided to stop drinking body armor.
I deconstructed, so to speak, the body armor drink. This was extremely simplified.
- Coconut water,
- fruit,
- electrolytes.
Instead of stressing out over a healthier choice on the market, I made my own.

All you will need is a blender, coconut water, frozen fruit, and a pinch of salt.
This simple recipe will take you just a few minutes to make. It will leave you feeling refreshed and hydrated.
In your blender, put in about 1/2 cup of frozen fruit, coconut water, and a pinch of salt. Press start and wait for your delicious “body armor” to be blended. It is not a smoothie, so don’t expect it to be too thick. Though there will be a little froth at the top of your container.
