It’s Going to be Okay

"In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings. And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."
Romans 8:26-27

This past week has been so difficult. My oldest was sick with a cold. Every day there was some crisis that I did not handle well.

By the time Saturday came around, I was exhausted physically and emotionally. I had a meltdown, like most stay home mamas probably do.

While I was crying, a little arm came around my shoulder and a sweet and tender voice said, “I love you mommy, it’s okay.” Two more angelic voices echoed their older brother.

I gained my composure, hugged them all with wet, tear-filled kisses. My heart burst with pride. They were being examples of the Lord to me. They were showing an unbelievable amount of grace to their tired mamma.

In that moment of utter exhaustion, I took comfort in knowing that, not only did my children love me, but I had Someone greater than us all crying and interceding for me at that very moment. So often I am at a loss for words. I don’t know what to pray, or how to pray – but God does.

His Spirit comes and stands in the gap for me. Lifting me up to God when I am too weak to do it myself. Knowing that I have the Lord with me in the trenches of my motherhood brings me that peace that surpasses my understanding. I can have meltdowns but I am not alone.

“For I consider that the suffering of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:16)

My motherhood is bringing glory to God somehow, and He is right there with me. Picking me up time after time.

Your Monday Moment

How would knowing the Holy Spirit intercedes for you change how you pray?

Who can you pray for and encourage this week?
