Mama’s Maple Syrup Bread

By

There is nothing I like more than the smell of coffee brewing and fresh baked bread.

At a young age my mom and my grandma instilled in me a love for this comfort food. Walking into my grandma’s house, I knew I was going to be get her freshly baked Norwegian sweet buns. It is one of my favorite memories with her.

As I grew up, I would watch my mom break out her big yellow Tupperware bowl. My siblings and I all knew what that meant. She was going to make buns or her honey oat bread!

When I got married, I was so excited to start my bread making journey. I have dabbled with sour dough. But I have come to enjoy the simple maple syrup recipe I created.

I adapted it from a recipe from a bed and breakfast my grandma used to go to. I will swap out the honey and milk for whey and maple syrup most of the time. When I don’t have those, I’ll use the milk and honey.

I now get to have the sweet smell of freshly baked bread wafting through my house on a weekly basis.

This is one thing that I started in my pursuit to live naturally. The breads at the store are full of preservatives and sugars that really mess with my stomach. This bread has 6 ingredients in it, opposed to the many ingredients in a store-bought loaf of bread.

Not only is it better for me, but it tastes so much better than the ones off the shelves.

Be on the lookout for the recipe on Friday!
