"But You are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel."
Psalm 22:3
The sense of belonging is something that this world is desperately searching for. People do anything to feel like they fit in. They change their clothes, their likes and dislikes, and talk with a “forked tongue” for approval. They praise things and people that should not be praised.
I admit, I have a tendency to do this still. I want so badly to be accepted sometimes; I agree with little comments here or there. Even when I don’t have a true opinion on the matter. I compare myself to others even though I know I don’t need to.
As I was reading my Bible this morning the word “enthroned” stood out to me. I discovered this.
“But You are holy,
O You who are enthroned in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered].” (Psalm 22:3 amplified)
In the original text used the word “יָשַׁב” which is yashab ( yah-SHAV)
“The Hebrew verb “yashab” primarily means “to sit” or “to dwell.” It conveys the idea of remaining in a place, inhabiting a location, or taking a seat. This verb is used extensively throughout the Old Testament to describe both physical sitting and the more abstract concept of dwelling or residing in a place. It can refer to individuals, groups, or even God dwelling among His people.”(Biblehub)
What really hit me was the culturally significant word David chose. He used this word to convey that he was safe and secure in the Lord. He was safe and secure in Yahweh.
How true this is for me. I am safe and secure and have my identity in the Lord. He is my eternal home. I can dwell in Him, rest in Him. No matter what is going on in my day, in my life, I have my Creator enthroned (sitting, dwelling, remaining) with me. I will give Him the praise and the glory in all I say, do, and think!
Your Monday Moment
What or who are you praising in order to feel safe and secure?
How would your life look if you embraced God’s position in your life?
