The Classic In Every Season

By

Finding a book to review for the Book shelf was harder than normal these last two months. I have read, or at least, partially read The Midnight Library. I wasn’t a fan of it so I chose to not finish it. I am working on another book that I am planning to review when I am finished.

So, this month I have decided to review a classic and a set of journals. The bestselling book in the world, “Having sold around 5 billion copies to date.” (All Top Everything

The Bible and Well Watered Woman journal set.

Having become a Christian when I was younger, I have been reading the Bible since I learned to read. But in all my 20 some years I have never read the Bible cover to cover. Then I discovered Well Watered Woman In Every Season Journal set. While it is unavailable now, this set of journals go through the Bible cover to cover in chronological order.

Starting from Genesis and going to Revelation the journals have passages that you read. Each page has a place for the date, the time, the place where you are reading, a grateful section. At the end of each reading you find a key verse that stood out to you and then a place to pray. At the end of each journal there are pages where you write what you’ve learned about God from each book of the Bible you finish.

One of the things I loved about the journals is that “the journals are undated so you can begin your study anytime and read at your own pace. Know that you don’t have to complete all four journals in just one year! The point is not to finish them within a certain amount of time. Rather, it’s to consistently read all of God’s Word to help you know him more.” (Well Watered Women). There was a freedom in knowing there was no deadline to reach, just time in the Word.

I have taken my time to finish reading the Bible cover to cover. In fact, I took just over 2 years. I was able to digest the Bible at my own pace and really take in God and His incredible nature.

From Genesis to Revelation, I read God’s Love story and redemption plan for His creation. I saw His mercy and forgiveness despite the continual sinning of His people on each page…even Leviticus.

I saw God’s heartbreak over sin as I read each passage. His unfailing love, His unmatched mercy, and His gift of grace and His perfect justice.

Now that I have finished reading it cover to cover, I can see why the Bible is the best selling book in the world. I can see how it has changed countless lives. I can see how God’s Word transforms lives – because it continues to transform mine on a daily basis.

The best review the Bible can have is from Hebrews 4:12

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
