In the Calm

By

“My earthly life clings to the dust; Revive and refresh me according to Your word.” Psalm 119:25

Sitting on the back porch I watch the wind sweep through the tall grass. I hear it rustle the leaves on the trees above me. I hear the peaceful chirps from the birds. I sit and there is a stillness that my heart so longs for. That my spirit so desperately needs.

My soul breaths in the rest of the Lord.

Studying what sabbath rest is, I am beginning to see that rest isn’t a cop out or excuse to be lazy. Sabbath rest – holy rest – is a gift from the Lord. He set up this gift at the beginning of the world. On the seventh day of creation, He rested from His work.

No matter what happens in this world. No matter how crazy your life is. No matter the tragedy that hits your family. There is the Creator of the heavens and earth who sustains it all.

Resting in Him is setting aside your worries, your hurts, your insecurities. Setting them aside and breathing in the fresh clear peace that surpasses all understanding.

It is sitting in the calm of His presence.

"In the calm of your presence
I am listening Lord/
I am still, I am quiet, I am Yours
Let Your Word speak to me
Let Your Spirit draw near
I will obey the truth that I hear
In the calm of your presence"

Your Monday Moment

How can you start a habit of rest this week?

Where is a place where there is peace and quiet that you can go to be in the presence of the Lord?
