I am one that loves garlic. Not just a little but a lot. If a recipe called for 1 or 2 cloves…you can bet that I put in double that. I love garlic and onion combinations in foods. Sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic is one of my favorite dishes. Put on chicken or a juicy burger – this girl is in heaven.
Growing up my sister used to have chronic ear infections. So many that my mom almost decided to have tubes put in her ears. Before she pulled the trigger, a friend of hers told her about garlic oil. A drop or two in the ear until the infection was healed was all my sister needed. A little bottle of this oil saved my mom hundreds of dollars (at the time).
Garlic oil became a staple in my house growing up. I now have it as a staple in my house now that I am a mom. Not just for the cooking aspect but for the healing aspect.
According to Cleveland Clinic garlic oil has several benefits
- Boosts immunity
- Garlic alone can give us over 200 unique chemicals that can help in strengthening the immune system and help fight the body against a range of ailments.(National Library of Medicine)
- Anti-inflammatory properties
- Improves heart health
- Garlic has the potential for reducing cardiovascular diseases since it lowers both systolic and diastolic blood pressure (National Library of Medicine)
- Clears up skin
- protects your food
- anti-fungal
- garlic oil can be applied externally to cure ringworm, warts, and skin parasites (National Library of Medicine)
In fact, the National Library of Medicine sites studies that say “garlic is a potential unique therapeutic food, helpful to manage coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection.”
All in all, garlic is one of God’s greatest gifts and creations. The power of the bulb is incredible to research. Even just a little reading on the herb has encouraged me to continue using it. It is small but boy does it pack a punch!
Disclaimer: Cautions must be taken when using garlic oil with conventional medications
Along with garlic, we pair it with mullein oil.
“Garlic and mullein ear oil can be a lifesaver if you tend to suffer from any earaches, knowing how to make garlic and mullein drops can save time when searching for other home remedies as the ingredients are so simple!” (Mullein Oil & Garlic: The Ultimate Guide – Mullein Leaf)

I discovered that mullein oil is used in Spanish folk medicine. It was tested on “disorders affecting a wide range of systems such as the circulatory, digestive, and respiratory systems, as well as skin diseases, sense organ illnesses, and infectious and parasitic diseases.” (National Library of Medicine)
In the article, “Searching for Scientific Explanations for the Uses of Spanish Folk Medicine: A Review on the Case of Mullein (Verbascum, Scrophulariaceae),” scientists found that mullein oil was effective in treating the disorders and illnesses mentioned above. They also found that this flower is effective on eye infections, TB and Covid -19.
As I begin researching more natural remedies to help my family stay healthy and replace conventional medicine in our home I am overwhelmed by how good God truly is.
How He truly made things in the world to show His grace.
Because sin is in the world, we have illnesses and diseases.
Thankfully, God doesn’t just let us go get sick and not help us. He graciously gives us natural medicine He created. He gives us garlic and mullein oil not for one illness but multiple illnesses.
If you are looking for an affordable and simple switch in your medicine cabinet – start with switching to garlic and mullein oils!
