For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11
Have you ever been in a place where it constantly rains? I think of Washington. I can only imagine how gloomy that rain can be. But when the clouds break and you see lush green landscapes, you know the rain is worth it.

Hoh Rainforest in Washington is a prime example of Isaiah 55:10-11. Because of the 12″-14″ rain that that area gets the rain forest is a beautifully mysterious place. Greens of every shade reside there, showing the promise of life on every branch. The rain has brought life just as God’s word brings life to the hearer.
Just like we rely on rain and snow to bring life back to the nature around us, we can trust God’s Word to do the same. His Word, when heard and believed changes lives. It brings restoration to families, to nations, and most importantly it brings restoration with the One who created us.
Jesus, the Word of God (John 1:1), never returned to His Father empty. He returned to the Right hand of God full. Full of Eternal life. Because of Jesus we have salvation from our sins, and we can spring a new life.
For those who have shared the Gospel with those around you. Whether friend, family, or to a stranger in passing – do not give up hope. Do not give up expectantly waiting on Jesus. He will not return empty. Do not grow weary of doing good for the sake of the Gospel. All that the Lord has planned and wishes to accomplish through you and His word, He will do.
Be of good cheer, and stay the course.
