Lesson in the Little Feet

Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do [everything] in accordance with the entire law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper and be successful wherever you go.
Joshua 1:7

While on vacation my kids and I decided to venture out from our air b and b and walk to a local church that has a huge indoor playground. I had not walked that far without my husband so I was on edge walking in the new area.

But I pulled up my bootstraps or tennis shoelaces in this case and set out.

When we got to church my oldest and my third got out of the wagon almost right away to go play but my second oldest stayed in the wagon. Refusing to get out.

I must admit, at first, I let it get to me. I got annoyed I wanted him to get out and enjoy the time out of the house. He on the other hand seemed dead set to stay in the wagon.

Because of my frustration he began to cry. And after praying silently I felt my emotions ease and words began flowing.

“You can go play. You are strong, you are courageous. You are brave. You put your faith in Jesus, so you aren’t alone. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside you! Go play!”

It wasn’t instant gratification. He didn’t get up right away like Ella Enchanted. But the next time his big brother came to check in – the two boys took off and within 5 minutes he was playing and having fun along with everyone else.

I was proud of him.

As I sat there watching my older three play, I began to see a lesson in those little feet.

Following God’s instructions are hard. Following where He wants us to go is scary. But following Him leads to His blessings, His provisions. And something better than you may even imagine.

It is okay to be scared, but stepping out in faith and trust takes strength and courage that can only be found in Christ.

Obedience is not based on our comfort zones. Obedience is based on our eternal and everlasting Savior and trusting He is in control.

Your Monday Moment

Is there a decision or choice that is overwhelming you right now?

If so, have you given it to the One who guides and directs steps?

Are you living in fear or in faith?
