Labor Day

All who are under the yoke as slaves are to regard their own masters as worthy of all honor so that the name of God and our doctrine will not be spoken against. Those who have believers as their masters must not be disrespectful to them because they are brothers or sisters, but must serve them all the more, because those who partake of the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and preach these principles.
1 Timothy 6:1-2

Today we celebrate Labor Day. We have a long weekend full of fun, friends, good food, and memories made!

Today we are taking our kids to a local parade and a picnic for lunch, and a cook out for dinner. We have a busy day and then the work week begins again. Back to the grind. The cheer of the weekend’s festivities fade. Routines are picked back up.

There is the potential to become weary again within a couple days. But believers…we must hold firm in those times where we want to grumble and complain.

I was reminded at church on Sunday that we have a purpose that other people do not. It is a purpose that goes beyond your pay check, and the hours you log. It is an eternal purpose.

We don’t work for mere man.

We work for our Lord.

We work to bring glory, shine a spotlight, on God Himself. The One who creates and sustains each and every person.

In our work, no matter what you are doing, make sure your heart is in the posture to glorify Him in all you do. And remember at the end of the day “If we have food and clothing, with these we will be content (1 Timothy 6:8)”

Whether you go into a 9-5 job, work in the trades, or stay home. Take joy in your labor and the rewards you gain – BUT never forget who you REALLY work for!

Your Monday Moment

What about your job makes you weary? Pray and ask the Lord to show you how to change the weariness into praise.

List the rewards you have received from your labor and thank the Lord for His provision and blessing above and beyond what you need.
