John 11:4" heard [this], He said, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
Spending time in the Bible this morning, I had so many people on my heart. Women at church whose families are struggling with health struggles, women who I know have excruciating cancer, and my kids, who struggle with colds here and there. And even close family members who are so discouraged by their health struggles.
John 11:4 really touched my heart this morning. We live in a fallen, sick (literally) world. Where sin has had its hold on us since the beginning of time (Genesis 3). Sin has brought death, pain, sickness, sadness, depression, and so much more to this precious world.
But God.
Oh, but God!
We may live in a fallen world, but God created and planned a way to heal those broken hearts and bodies. He planned for Jesus to bring healing to the broken souls. Jesus came to save and heal the sick. While He does that in a physical sense sometimes, He offers healing that goes deeper – healing of the soul.
Healing comes in admitting that we are sinners and that we are broken, and need a Savior and Healer. Healing comes when we ask Jesus to forgive our sins and ask Him to become the Lord of our lives. Healing comes when we let go and take His lead.
Lazarus was used for a purpose. Your life has a purpose. Your journey has a purpose.
Your Monday Moment
Take a moment today to listen to or read John 11:1- 46
Take heart, your journey has a purpose!
Dear God, I thank you for the reminder that our lives are created for a purpose. You made us for a purpose. And all things in this world are to point to you – the Creator. This world is sinful because of human choice, but You CHOSE to send Jesus here to make things right and make it possible to have a restored relationship with You. Without Him, we couldn’t have that. We would have no purpose, and we would live aimlessly. Thank you for using our sicknesses to bring You glory. Encourage those who are struggling this morning, and comfort those who are experiencing the loss that comes from this fallen world. Allow these to touch the hearts of those who read them. Fill in the gaps that I have left. May everything be for Your glory and Your honor, Father!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
