New Day

Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say: Rejoice!
Philippians 4:4

This past weekend was not what I was expecting. One of my kids got pink eye. My husband was coughing and not feeling well. I was anything but rejoicing in my circumstances.

Then this morning as my son with pink eye was in the bathroom. I heard him start creating this song with the words “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice.” How it made me smile. For one he woke up with a song in his heart. But he reminded me a command that the Lord gave His children.

Rejoice.

Sickness rampant in the house: Rejoice in the Lord!

Lost job: Rejoice in the Lord!

Singleness: Rejoice in the Lord!

In all things we can rejoice in the One who created us. We can rejoice in the One who sustains our lives. We can rejoice in Him because He is good, His faithful love endures forever.

I don’t know the situations that you are facing. But I do know that there is always something to be joyful about.

For me, I can rejoice in the Lord. Even during my children’s whining, fighting, or my ever-changing emotions. I can rejoice because I have all that I have ever wanted. I can rejoice that the Lord is sustaining me. I can rejoice in WHO He is and will always be. I can rejoice in the interruptions, because that Lord gave me children to love and care for. My husband works long hours. I can rejoice because the Lord is faithful in providing him with a good paying job.

Most importantly, no matter what we are facing we can rejoice in Jesus.

All things fade in light of the Gospel. Because of the Gospel we have the ability to rejoice in all things.

He is the reason that we can have joy. Because of Him and His sacrifice for us we can have salvation from our sin. The broken relationship with our Creator restored.

Our souls cry out for Him because we are sinful and broken creatures. With Jesus, we have wholeness again. We have relationship with God again.

Because of the Gospel – Jesus, Son of God. God Himself, coming living a perfect life here on earth. Dying on the cross, and three days later rising from the dead. For all who believe in Him. Believing He is the Son of God, believing that He rose from the dead. Believing that each of us are sinners and need a savior. Believing that Jesus is that Savior. When we believe and confess that Jesus is Lord, we have salvation. We receive forgiveness of sins. We gain eternal life with Him in Heaven.

We have joy in the salvation of the Lord.

All things fade in light of the Gospel. Because of the Gospel we have the ability to rejoice in all things.

Your Monday Moment

What are you going through right now? What does your life look like?

How does knowing that Jesus CHOSE to die for you, and offers to forgive your sin make you feel?

What is something about the Lord you can rejoice in today? (See Psalm 136-139…it’s a great place to start)
